Brass Lantern

Brass Lantern is a bold, citrus-forward split-base cocktail that blends white rum, tequila, and triple sec with orange juice, grenadine, and a dash of orange bitters. Shaken and served over fresh ice, it is bright, smooth, and lightly sweet, with a warm finish and a sunset-colored glow.

Recipe

  • 1 oz white rum
  • 1 oz tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
  • 1 dash orange bitters

Glass

  • Double old fashioned glass

How to make

  1. Add the white rum, tequila, triple sec, orange juice, grenadine, and orange bitters to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice.
  3. Shake well until thoroughly chilled.
  4. Strain into a double old fashioned glass filled with fresh ice.
  5. Serve immediately.

Garnish

Garnish with an orange slice or a thin orange wheel. For a cleaner presentation, express a strip of orange peel over the drink and place it in the glass.

Origin

Brass Lantern was created as an original split-base cocktail built around white rum and tequila, using triple sec and orange juice for bright citrus body, grenadine for color and softness, and orange bitters for a more polished finish. The name reflects the drink’s warm glow and its rich orange-red tone.

Optional serving note

Best served very cold over fresh ice. This one drinks fuller and fruitier than it first sounds, with the rum softening the tequila while the orange juice and grenadine round out the stronger edges.
