Gilded Hollow

Gilded Hollow is a bourbon-based citrus cocktail that balances the warmth of whiskey with the bright bite of grapefruit and lemon. Maple syrup adds a soft, mellow sweetness, while orange bitters bring a subtle aromatic lift. Shaken and served over fresh ice, it is smooth, refreshing, and layered with a lightly bittersweet finish.

Recipe

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz maple syrup
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 2 oz grapefruit juice
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Glass

  • Double old fashioned glass

How to make

  • Add the bourbon, maple syrup, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, and orange bitters to a cocktail shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake well until fully chilled.
  • Strain into a double old fashioned glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a grapefruit slice or twist, and serve immediately.

Garnish

Garnish with a thin grapefruit slice or a twist of grapefruit peel. For a slightly more aromatic finish, express the peel over the drink before placing it in the glass.

Origin

Gilded Hollow was created as a bourbon-forward citrus riff built around grapefruit, maple, and orange bitters. Inspired by classic bourbon-and-grapefruit combinations, it adds lemon for extra brightness and orange bitters for a more rounded, aromatic profile. The name reflects the drink’s warm golden tone and deeper, more shadowed character.

Optional serving note

Best served cold over fresh ice. It drinks richer than Grey Bloom and Sunlit Vale, with more depth from the bourbon and bitters.
