French Toast


Ingredients

  • 4 thick slices of bread (brioche or challah are great choices)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk or half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar

Directions

  • Begin by whisking together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a shallow dish.
  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat with butter or oil.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture to coat both sides.
  • Cook the bread on the heated skillet for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Serve the French toast warm with your preferred toppings.
